National citizenship service

In August this year Go Green Go Wild supported a group of 14 school leavers from the local area who took part in the National Citizen Service project.

Go Green Go Wild gave the young people the challenge to make Senacre Wood a more appealing area for residents to visit and enjoy the plentiful nature and wildlife in the wood.

On visiting the site, the volunteers realised the potential of the woodland and commented how peaceful and away from the hustle and bustle it is. However, they also noticed it is an area where visitors are  not being responsible with their litter and fly tipping was also a problem.

They decided they would like to hold a clean-up day and taking inspiration from Go Green Go Wild, named their day The Big Green Clean!
As well as removing over 40 sacks of rubbish, the group also raised funds by selling cakes. The money raised paid for signs which they designed themselves, to encourage visitors to take their rubbish home.
